ModelRelay (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ModelRelay API gateway service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Company name (optional)
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe)

1.2 Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • API request metadata (timestamps, endpoints, response codes)
  • Token usage and costs
  • IP addresses
  • Browser/client information

1.3 API Request Content

When you use ModelRelay to proxy requests to AI providers:

  • Request content (prompts, messages) passes through our servers to reach AI providers
  • Response content passes through our servers back to you
  • We log request/response metadata for billing and debugging
  • We do not store the full content of prompts or responses beyond what is necessary for immediate request processing

1.4 Customer Data

If you use ModelRelay to serve your own end users:

  • End user identifiers you provide
  • Usage data attributed to end users
  • Subscription and billing status

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Process transactions and send billing information
  • Calculate usage and enforce rate limits
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Communicate with you about your account
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Information Sharing

We share your information only in these circumstances:

3.1 AI Providers

To fulfill API requests, we transmit your prompts and messages to AI providers including:

  • Anthropic (Claude models)
  • OpenAI (GPT models)
  • Google (Gemini models)
  • Other providers you configure

Each provider has their own privacy policy governing how they handle this data.

3.2 Payment Processing

We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe’s privacy policy governs payment data handling.

3.3 Infrastructure Providers

We use cloud infrastructure providers (Fly.io, AWS) to host our services. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request.

3.5 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account closure
  • Usage logs: Retained for 90 days for operational purposes
  • Billing records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
  • Request content: Not stored beyond immediate processing

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS 1.3)
  • Encryption at rest for stored data
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Regular security assessments

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format

9. Cookies and Tracking

Our dashboard uses:

  • Session cookies: Required for authentication
  • Preference cookies: Remember your settings

We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
